Getting Too Big for Your Tights?

I am not really sure if I should name names here so I will dance around it and you will know what I am talking about. I was watching the latest episode of Bi**est L**ser last night. Though I know better as a degreed and certified trainer, I still enjoy the show. Maybe it's seeing the life-changing results. It's definately not the crying, and crying, and crying some more. Now, I know I have been overly prone to tears on occasion - not something I am proud of - but I don't need to watch adults sob for 2 hours. Of course certain contestants have more right to cry than others. Abby, for instance, who lost her husband, 3 year old daughter and infant son in a car accident. Yes, Abby, you have the right to cry a lot, and she was more positive than most.

Anyway, I was watching last night and one of the trainers (I will let you guess which one) said as far as a trainers go "I am the best you can get" (or at least something really close to that).

Seriously???

Seriously???

Has someone gotten too big for their tights? Over the past 15 years working in fitness, I believe I have met some of the best in the fitness field. PhD's that have written the books that other trainers read to learn how to be trainers. Researchers that develop the methods by which we train. In a nutshell, people better than her (oops did I let it slip which trainer it was?).

So I reached for the remote and click, off it went. Done, over, not able to stomach (no pun intended) it anymore.

Bus!

Nic is obsessed with busses. White busses, yellow busses, mail busses, water delivery busses, parcel delivery busses... So not all of them are really "busses", some are actually trucks and we are trying to distinguish between the two, until then they are all busses.

So we got this new toy from my friend Jenny. It's a Smart Cycle where he sits on the cycle which is hooked up to the TV and he plays along with the games. As he pedals he moves along with the screen and steers to maneuver through the game. One of the games involves him driving, of all things, a BUS!

His feet just barely reach the pedals, so actually moving along with the bus is difficult. Instead we get off the bike and spin the pedals around with our hands, which makes steering difficult.

It went like this:

Me: Ok, Nic pedal.

Nic: Bus, Mommy Bus!

Me: Yes, Nic it's a bus. Turn the handlebars.

Nic: Bus, Mommy Bus!

Me: Yes, Nic, Bus. Let's get back on the seat.

Nic: Bus, Mommy Bus!

I guess this is why it's for 3-5 year olds.

2010 Here We Come!

Like the wild and crazy folks we are, we celebrated New Year's Eve the way we celebrate every Thursday night, we went to bed around 9pm and woke up at 2am because Nic wanted to play.

Here is what we have planned for 2010! I am going to run a half marathon in March at Wrightsille Beach. Nic may or may not be riding along. It all depends on how well my training goes and how tough I feel.

Then we will make the mandatory trip to Disney World in the spring. It is so fun now that Nic is at an age where he is interested in new things and is more involved in the experience.

A couple weeks ago we went to see the Monster Truck Show! Yep, Monster Trucks - mud, mud, mud, power, power, power. We went to the "Pit Party" which allows the kids to go down into the mud pit and get up close and personal with the trucks. It was all lots of fun until the trucks started up their engines and I remembered how loud those things get. Oh well, we learn.

Then, of course, we have potty training to look forward to. But since last week Nic took his little potty and threw it across the room and shouted "no potty" I don't think it will be happening right away.

A Merry Von Badinski Christmas!

Oh my, Santa was good to Nicolas!
Christmas is all about playing with your new toy train while wearing your spaceman jammies!

One of my clients, who has a one year old son, asked me how I deal with all the toys. I just told her to look down and watch where you step. I remember prior to Nic's birth thinking that there was no way I was going to let me house become a big, primary-colored, mess of toys. But now, like all the other "I'll nevers", I find my living room littered with trucks, and ducks, and books of all sizes. When I was single and living alone in my own house, I had everything very neat, clean, and organized. Now it's a mess even when it's clean. I have found that the more love in my house the messier it gets, so I just try to manage the choas the best I can. I don't see it getting tidier any time soon.

Like a good Mom, I got Nic a pack of big boy pants (underwear) for Christmas. I know, no socks?

The best part was that he liked them so much he put all 5 pairs on at once.
